The Diamond Trading Company hired ACNielsen to survey 6,054 consumers in 15 countries in order to determine the popularity of diamonds as Valentine's Day gifts.

Most of the men surveyed said they attempt to make February 14th a special day for women; however, gestures go "unnoticed." The majority of women said they received nothing from men on Valentine's Day 2005.
