Retail participants in Jewelry.com and the Diamond Promotion Service's (DPS) "October is Right-Hand Ring Month" campaign saw same-store sales increases ranging from 16 percent to 53 percent in October 2005, according to the companies.

The campaign celebrated the broadening of the definition of what is a right-hand ring, with focused marketing driving retail sales of any diamond fashion (non-bridal) ring typically worn on the right hand. Throughout October, nationwide retail stores supported the multi-million dollar advertising and public relations program for the diamond category celebrating a woman's desire to treat herself to a diamond ring. Zales, Sears, Macy's, JC Penney, Helzberg Diamonds, and Finlay were some of the major retailers who participated with an array of in-store events, signage, banners and direct mail.
