Diamond Jewelry - S. Florida Jewelers Market Adopts Trade Show Look

South Florida's newest jewelry exchange challenges the conventional wisdom that fine jewelry is expensive and bargains are found only in stripped-down stores.

The Jewelers Market, which quietly opened in November 2005 but celebrated its grand opening Thursday, reinvents the concept of jewelry exchanges by focusing on ambience and aesthetics as much as it does its selection of diamond and fine jewelry. The exchange fashions itself after trade show display cases, not a typical bazaar.

Turnberry & Associates, an Aventura-based real estate development firm that owns and manages the exchange, the shopping center and several upscale retail properties across the nation, invested $3.5 million to renovate the space. For the past two years, the retail space now occupied by the Jewelers Market was an empty Just for Feet store in the otherwise vibrant Aventura Square Shopping Center along Biscayne Boulevard.
